Aurora is located in the southeast Denver Metro Corridor and is home to the the third largest population in the Metro area, covering 142 miles and with a population of approximately 2,359,994.

It is served by it's own school system, Aurora Public Schools as well as the celebrated Cherry Creek School District. Nestled within Douglas, Arapahoe and Adams counties, Aurora is home to a large network of services, cultural programs, City departments, revitalization plans, and is experiencing booming growth in the new housing sector.

Add these factors to Aurora's relative affordability and one sees why Aurora is a top choice for first-time home buyers and those seeking an affordable, suburban way of life.

Honored in 2004 by Sports Illustrated as a "Sportstown", Aurora is home to many and varied activities. From spending a day at the Aurora Reservior to enjoying trails like the new Powerline Trail linking eastern neighborhoods to the Horseshoe Park, indoor and outdoor activities and sports leagues abound.

Some of the cultural departments and programs attracting these buyers and residents include:

The Community Development Division, which has funded the Original Aurora Special Events Program in order to attract large-scale events and activities to Fletcher Plaza and surrounding areas with the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area (NRSA). Frequent events with community participation and interaction can establish a safe and attractive environment for the immediate community and create a pedestrian friendly destination. Such events include the Rhythm of Aurora Performing Arts Series; Flicks on the ?Fax outdoor movie series; Hispanic Cultural Celebration; Tour de Lights; Java Fest; concerts; and boxing events.

The Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area: the NRSA Urban Renewal Program coordinates and executes projects in the Original Aurora area where urban renewal plans have been adopted by the city council and the Urban Renewal Authority Board. It also implements a variety of strategies/projects in the Fletcher Plaza Urban Renewal Area. Projects include business recruitment, streetscape and public improvement projects, and the development of the Original Downtown Aurora Arts Districts.
