Denver's Country Club neighborhood enjoys historic status and it really shows as you tour these stately streets. These homes are treasured for what they are so you won't find numerous tear-downs so common in nearby Denver nighborhoods. What you will find is a spectacular array of architecture making a statement in this historic neighborhood.
This area is still defined by the tree-lined parkways envisioned by Denver champion mayor, Robert Speer in his quest to make Denver the "Paris of America". Speer was involved with the developer Frederick Ross, who with investors, made the purchase of the land that is now the Country Club neighborhood. The southernmost part of the neighborhood is the address of the Denver Country Club and the northernmost section is is made up of dignified homes. Mayor Speer lived in the home built at 300 Humboldt.
You'll enjoy strolling the neighborhoods and taking in the elements of DeBoer planting schemes at intersections. Spending some time here will reveal that Country Club has a gracious air that some upscale neighborhoods do not. One could say the area just feels comfortable with itself. Residents enjoy preserving the history here, which is strictly enforced through various controls. See the Country Club Guidelines link for further details.
For those who have aspirations, membership at the namesake Denver Country Club depends on knowing several members and being willing to wait two to three years to become a member. In the meantime, golf with those members that you are getting to know, $100 greens fee. In any case, residents here become a part of Denver's living history and that's great company to keep.
