The Baker neighborhood feels like a colorful fiesta. Originally homesteaded by William and Elizabeth Byers, homes here were mainly built between 1890 and 1920, and commutes to and from here were made by streetcar. Today, Baker is home to a burgeoning art community at Santa Fe drive, incredible restaurants along Broadway, and above the district to the north is the historically important and truly beautiful park Sunken Gardens designed by S.R. Deboer -- Denver's revered Landscape Architect who served formally in that function between 1910 and 1931.

For those who like to keep their eyes on the bottom line, Baker's host status to one of the city's most exciting development projects located at Gates, along Baker's southern border, means great things for those who are smart enough to buy now in this neighborhood.

But it's not all about the money and the culture: basically blocks from downtown, Baker district is still affordable enough for working folks to move into and has a sense of community that some neighborhoods do not. You'll find family services, community get-togethers called Baker Barks and lots of neighbors outdoors visiting.

The archtitecture here bears the stamp of architect William Lang, who designed the home of Molly Brown along with 30 of the homes here. The parade of homes is a huge part of the visual interest of the area and you will find a mix of Denver squares and delightful gingerbread Victorian homes, and kaleidoscope-color Queen Annes. You will probably see contemporary architecture more in the mix in years to come.

Restaurants to try here: head a little north to El Noa Noa to enjoy a live mariachi band or dine outdoors. Feast on delicious pork chops with green chile or trout with garlic sauce and wash it down with a signature margarita!

It would be my pleasure to help you to locate to Baker or to market your home to someone who would love to live here. You can reach me right away at (720) 275-3926 or leave a message with your research requests at (303) 850-1841.

Best Regards,
Marie de Espinosa
