There are some who view the suburbs as synonymous with sameness, but in the case of Highlands Ranch, they are just plain wrong. Now of course I live in neighboring Lone Tree, but when I do Highlands Ranch with our friends on a playdate I am always paying for something that our friends from Highlands Ranch get for free! Like admission to the amenities of the four Recreation Centers -- Northridge, Westridge, Eastridge and now Southridge - incredible. You can spend every free hour you ever have taking your children to karate, gymnastics, dance, swimming, yoga and on and on. There is even half and full-day daycare and after school programs available.

This area boasts 21 parks and 70 miles of trails. Residents watch their children grow up playing sports on these fields and the soccer, T/soft/baseball and intermural football teams enjoy great local attention.

There is tons of affordable family dining in Highlands Ranch and there is also plenty to please adult palates. Try Nono's Cafe for amazing creole-southern dining; the Northwoods will serve you a perfect Beef Wellington or any steak you like; or enjoy succulent outdoor patio dining at Little Hollys -- everything is delicious.
